Every week Social Goodies blogs about Celebrity Do-GOODers. Here is an excerpt from their latest posting by Tracey Tee.

It is an indisputable fact that celebrities can influence people to take action and support causes. Pre-Twitter (who can dream of such a bleak time, right?), live events were among the best ways of connecting talent, causes and people. Think back to1985 – Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp’s Farm Aid concert raised unprecedented awareness (and funds) about the loss of family farms in order to keep farm families on their land. From its “lo fi” beginnings as a kick-a## concert, to morphing into an interactive website with Twitter (@FarmAid) and Facebook (facebook/farmaid) pages – Farm Aid is still vital to the welfare of so many American farmers but now way more accessible to supporters who may not be able to take in a show.

Today, thanks to Twitter, Facebook and other social media, celebrities in particular have taken advantage of this mass-communication medium to create real-time movements by speaking directly to their fans and followers to evoke action and commitment. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite Do-GOOD celeb tweeters in hopes that you’ll find a couple who also support the causes near and dear to your heart (and don’t forget to follow @SocialGoodiesCo too! We’re GOOD tweeting all day every day!): To read the complete store visit SocialGoodies.com

By Chaske Spencer

One of the most important things I have found being more and more in the public eye, is the need to use the platforms I am given to make a positive difference in the areas that are important to me. I am fortunate to have some people who may listen to what I say and hopefully take some of it to heart so I would encourage anyone , not just people with that spotlight, to get clear about what inspires them, what do they burn for, and what shift do they want to manifest on the planet…there are all sorts of actions people can take locally and globally that will shift things. People do not need to wait for the government or corporations to change the world, individuals are doing it every day. All it takes is your heart burning for SOMETHING and identifying what are the systems in place that perpetuate that circumstance…are those systems working? If not let’s create new ones…people created the current systems, people like us can create new ones…a great resource is to watch www.storyofstuff.com, also read CONFESSIONS OF AN ECONOMIC HITMAN. The non profit I work with has a ton of resource and you can downloads stuff at www.unitedglobalshift.org. I am really committed to empowering people to BE THE SHIFT they want to see vs waiting for someone else to do it. We need to get AWARE, create ALTERNATIVES and then take ACTION….We can shift what isn’t working, if we take it on.

ABOUT CHASKE SPENCER:

Chaske Spencer plays werewolf leader “Sam Uley” in the popular Summit Entertainment THE TWILIGHT SAGA film series: NEW MOON and ECLIPSE. Prior to The Twilight Saga, Chaske was in the films: SKINS, DREAMKEEPER and Steven Spielberg’s INTO THE WEST. Chaske recently booked the lead role of “Virgil First Raise” in the feature film of the book WINTER IN THE BLOOD (by James Welch) and additionally, he shot and wrapped the indie film SHOUTING SECRETS playing the lead character named “Wesley Bishnik.” Partnered with his manager JOSSELYNE HERMAN and veteran producer TED KURDYLA, his production company URBAN DREAM is in development on a feature-length documentary and feature film called THE BLOCK. Chaske expects to soon be starring in ALL MY RELATIONS– a role created specifically for him.

This is not speaking to me. I am not a preppy collegiate. But I will admit that in the past, I’d duck my head into Brooks Brothers’ stores lured in by the advertising campaigns that promised the perfect suiting for a corporate world. I never found it, it’s one label that I just don’t relate to, and that’s the point!

Brooks Brothers pulled a genius marketing move by creating a branded collection for the country’s preppiest universities – their true customer! For a complete list visit (Gawker).

At last, they are engaging their audience directly and not through the age-old advertising medium of print dictated for almost a century by an enforced look – staged photography, polished production, models with perfect hair and makeup, all to fit into the branded look of magazine publishing and not their own. (More about this later)

Considering Rome was not built in a day, we can’t expect every brand to wean itself from traditional marketing outlets to social media platforms that enable them to dialogue with their true customer overnight but this is a step in the right direction for Brooks Brothers!

Giorgio Armani was quoted recently as saying that Prada and Dolce and Gabbana make men look silly. Well, the list doesn’t stop there! For a couple of years now, we’ve all been getting a good chuckle from the mens’ fashion shows but this season is just ridiculous. Who are they designing for? Certainly not the American market because I don’t know of any man, even the most eccentric and flamboyant, that would wear these looks in society. And definitely not in LA. Not one celebrity, agent, manager, cheese ball or trust fund baby. Ok…maybe one, but one does not build a base let alone pay for the expensive fashion shows and marketing campaigns. And anyway, the person I’m thinking of lives in New York.

Who is this all for? The Asian market? Maybe. Russia? I don’t see it. Or just merely as a court jester’s entertainment for the rest of us…? And why does the fashion media keep celebrating it? I mean, it really isn’t helping anything, least of all the economy.

So the big question is, where have all the menswear designers gone?

Refinery 29 has posted a roundup of “Game-Changing Stylists Taking Over Hollywood” including some of the best new and not so new talent this city has to offer. We agree, these certainly are some of the best in the city and yet, there are more!! Here’s our supplement for a somewhat comprehensive list of the stylists mastering both Hollywood’s red carpet and the look of LA! You might want to bookmark both pages for a quick reference guide.

Monica Rose: One cannot think of LA without thinking of the Kardashians of course. Monica Rose is the dynamo styling force behind Kim, Kourtney and Khloe’s famous money-making looks.

Maude – Emily Current & Meritt Elliott: When they’re not busy building their denim empire, these two super talented ladies are making the likes of Emma Roberts and Mandy Moore look good, really good.

Haute Street – Joey Tierney: Joey is not only gorgeous, talented and super sweet herself but she has the LA look down! Audrina Patridge is one of her many clients.

Lindsay Albanese: Lindsay Albanese is a styling expert who cut her chops behind the scenes at Access Hollywood. She is the go-to gal for the tabloids when it comes to making the celebs in their pages look good.

Rob Zangardi & Mariel Haen: This stylist / costume designer duo are responsible for Rihanna’s over-the-top look. Apparently, there are many who want to emulate that because their client list is pretty big now!

Johnny Wujek: 2 words Katy Perry!
